I thought the GOP stood for lower taxes?

I just lost my $16,000+ tax deductions because of the policies passed by the Republican party! I thought the GOP stood for lower taxes? With policies like these I will never vote for the Republican party which supports raising your taxes substantially for the normal folks, while the 1% gets itself bigger tax breaks. The Republican party are TRAITORS!
