'Slash And Burn': Chuck Schumer Accuses Republicans Of Sabotaging The Economy To Hurt Obama

Republicans have become incompetent at governance because they are so rigidly ideological that they are incapable of responding to the changing facts and new realities of todays world.

$20 billion in tax breaks for oil companies, $1 billion in siphoned funds for earmarks, tax breaks for the rich. None of these are on the table, so McConnell has proven what anyone not brainwashed by Fox News knows...the Repubs are a bunch of liars. This reminds me of the Republican bankers who ran the banks into the ground, screaming for deregulation from the government the entire time, then when the stakes were down had their hands out for a bail out. Republicans= SHAMELESS HYPOCRITES!

Obama Open To Economic Stimulus As Part Of Debt Reduction Deal

In my house, if I have an income deficit obviously I cut spending where I can. I wouldn't make my family go without food, shelter, medical care, or jeopardize their safety, or slash my retirement. I would have to increase the amount of money coming in, though by taking another job and suffering lack of sleep and leisure time. I think the government should run the same way. The government makes money to pay for services just like our states do, through taxes. Now obviously you can't tax the middle class who's fighting to make their own budgets balance, but you can tax or take away tax benefits for the huge corporations who outsource and give nothing back to our nation. The very rich MUST adjust their budgets like government and the tax payers (we who actually pay taxes) the middle class does. By cutting spending AND raising tax revenue by removing special tax breaks, incentives etc.. and creating instead incentives for creating jobs here in THIS country we can balance the budget. And, guess what? The money I made 10 years ago isn't the same as it is today - my own debt ceiling had to be raised as the cost of everything is more expensive. Take an accounting class Republicans, or look at your own budgets and get real!

Obama Open To Economic Stimulus As Part Of Debt Reduction Deal

Why are Republicans determined to destroy America? Or do they hate the president so much that they're willing to destroy America in order to get at him? Bush administration raised the debt ceiling 19 times. Each time Boehner, Kyl, Canter, McConnel and other republicans signed on 100% without a peep. No one tried to hold the other side hostage just to drive home some personal dislike or disagreement with the other party.

The list of spending cuts offered by the GOP shows how ideological (and not economic) are the reasons behind them.

Schumer Brings Medicare Into Heart Of Debt Negotiations

That's what republicans do best, do nothing. i've heard that GOP are the 'party that can do', obviously these past two years the republicans have done that is beneficial to the american people. they should be branded as the party that can do nothing! and economic arsonist!

Ron Johnson Has Found A Creative Way To Recoup His Campaign Investment

The Republicans have two main goals: continued tax breaks for the wealthy and reduced benefits for future retirees. Since both these are opposed by a majority of Americans, the GOP is trying to change the subject by fomenting a crisis over the debt limit for obligations we've accumulated over decades. They don't seem to care that a default could damage the fragile recovery, perhaps because they believe that the worse the economy, the better Republican chances are to get full control of the government in 2012. Since they already control the House of Representative, the GOP can block spending and shut down the government. Instead, they are risking a worldwide financial crisis, in order to advance their ideological goals -- and they'll blame the mess on Obama. Will voters fall for it?

Libya Funding, Authorization Face House Votes In Obama War Powers Fight

It was the 8 years of Republican policies that have maxed out the nations' credit cards. The Republicans were like irresponsible teenagers who deregulated the checks and balance system that were put into place to regulate the finical industry.

Now the Republicans, & their willingness to send financial markets into chaos in order to extract concessions on spending is a dangerous game to play and one that doesn't allow for substantive debates over government programs.

I am a very successful business man, that will lose a great deal if these idiots perpetuate this fire storm.

Why some people support these fools is still a great mystery?!!!!!

Paul Ryan Says He's Open To Making Medicare Plan Optional

Republicans need to focus more on social issues that will help grow the economy.

We have now entered a new phase with the threats by the GOP that they won't raise the debt limit ceiling if Democrats don't agree to stringent cuts. The willingness to send financial markets into chaos in order to extract concessions on spending is a dangerous game to play and one that doesn't allow for substantive debates over government programs.

Republicans work for Big business, insurance giants, and wall street insiders, and banks. Debt Ceiling Negotiations Led By Joe Biden Face Daunting Odds

Tuesday's 4-3 ruling by the state Supreme Court was a major victory for Walker.." It was in fact a victory for the forces of darkness that have bought their way into governing positions in our society and have governed based upon a crisis they created and have helped to perpetuate.

Republicans work for Big business, insurance giants, and wall street insiders, and banks. They are NOT for the middle class. They hate the middle class because the middle class have nothing today.

Mike Pence Holds Top-Secret Dinner With GOP Donors

I have never been a straight ticket voter. Most of my concerns do have me leaning toward the Democratic platforms dating to Reagan. But now, more than ever, I have become so disgusted with the Republican Party and their evolution toward extremism that for the first time in my life I can see myself voting straight anti-Republican.

President and Democrats do something right for the country they still have bad things to say and that really bothers me...what country are they representing at that point???

The USA or the GOP....?

Congress Financial Disclosure Reports Reveal Income, Assets Of Top Lawmakers (PHOTOS)

Let's face it. A debt ceiling deal is next in line for the making. Geithner with President Obama's approval already demonstrated initiative by exercising his authority under his emergency measures to give Congress additional time to act or not. But Geithner can bring this Congressional farce to an end by including in his emergency or special measures a date certain by which salary and expense payments for Senators, Representatives and their staffs and consultants would cease without the debt ceiling being raised. Maybe continue paying Congress’ light bill so they can see their way to the Chambers to vote, but that’s the only exception. If Geithner did this, Congress (including Republicans and pesky Tea Partiers) would figure out a way to raise the debt limit before Geithner’s date certain. Announcing such a date certain and listing various payment stops perhaps incrementally would have tremendous educational effects for Senators, Representatives and Voters.

Senate Democrats: We Will Not Let GOP Cut Medicare

Didn't the Huffing ton Post want to know about how the GOP will address unemployment? Then again, it's no secret, tax cuts for the rich, and trickle down, has always been their solution to everything. It worked really well with Bush, now, didn't it? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? - ((NOT))!

The only difference in this bunch, is the degree of crazyness for they all want to just repeat the same failed Repubican policies of the past. They all conveniently ignore the fact that it was Republican policies that got us into this mess to begin with.

5 Things To Watch At The New Hampshire Republican Presidential Primary Debate

"By god, we're gonna make sure millionaires get their tax breaks. And we're gonna make certain that the internet is handed to our big corporate buddies. and we'll make sure our military contractor friends stay rich"!

The list of spending cuts offered by the GOP shows how ideological (and not economic) are the reasons behind them. I'll take a Republican's proposal seriously when it doesn't include kickbacks for the wealthiest Americans at the expense of the poor, elderly, and teachers.

Debt Ceiling Debate Hinges On Medicare: Can Democrats And Republicans Make A Deal?

We should be focusing on jobs and economic recovery; the deficit, a long-term problem, will be easier to deal with after we have recovered from the recession. You decrease the deficit by getting out of the recession first. Yes, that might mean increased spending in the short-term but that is like buying medicine on credit so you can go back to work.

Democrats, and the rest of the nation, need to stop buying into the Republican narrative; Republicans are using the deficit (for which they are primarily responsible) as an excuse to cut funding for programs for which they are ideologically opposed like Medicare and Medicaid as well as tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy. It's like setting a house on fire and than convincing everyone that the fire isn't the real problem, it's the cost of buckets and, by the way, here's some gasoline to help put out the fire.

Obama And Boehner Pledge Neither Will Blink On Taxes In Debt Ceiling Talks (VIDEO)

How about the new GOP Congress? I thought they took over to create JOBS. Instead of voting for bills that would increase jobs, their focus has been on not funding abortions or women health clinics, voting to extend the $20B tax credit for to the oil companies to name just a few. They are also for increasing tax breaks for the greedy wealthy and large corporations, some who receive tax refunds and yes, turning Medicare into a voucher program. Sorry Paul but that is what it is. No matter how many times you say it isn't, the truth seems to prevail. You want respect but you don't understand that respect is earned.

Obama And Boehner Pledge Neither Will Blink On Taxes In Debt Ceiling Talks (VIDEO)

I'm truly shocked that the GOP economic strategy of extending the Bush tax cuts and reading the U.S. Constitution on the floor of the House didn't result in a flood of jobs, jobs, jobs for the American people.

Lots of partisan blather but no solutions from the right. As far as I can tell, unemployment and jobs are the LAST thing any Republicans want to do something about. It's all about tax breaks and ending regulations and killing unions (ie the ability of any group of employees to actually exercise some limited power)...all things that go the the bottom lines of the gasp (rich) can we say the word. And I'm actually have run my own businesses so I guess I should applaud these Republican efforts as helping me, but I also have a conscience so I can't. Having a conscience is so passe - it's all about screwing those under you today.

Obama And Boehner Pledge Neither Will Blink On Taxes In Debt Ceiling Talks (VIDEO)

Hiring slows and unemployment rises and one of the major causes is weak consumer spending. Could it be that since, business and consumers are interdependent and this is a consumer based economy, we have concentrated to much on the business sector, of which a large portion is legalized gambling and not enough on raising consumers purchasing power, which was barely enough to save the economy. Consumers need to be leading the economy. Notice that it has been the Republicans that are anti-consumers and dragging down the US Economy.

The job market is recovering but there are many bumps in the road. Too many jobs have sent to other countries and republicans' budget cuts have made things worse. But president is working on bringing back jobs from overseas.

John Boehner Fights Foreclosure Relief As Housing Crisis Ravages His District

President Obama has not failed as President. He has been admirable in his accomplishment in view of the political war the GOP has declared against him to stop him from being President one more term. Watch the GOP walk up to the disaster of failing to allow a national debt increase by August.

You would have to be an idiot not to know the power in the GOP and the Tea Baggers are the old Dixiecrats who reregistered as Republicans and brought the old Southern States Democratic Party view points with them. They have even announced they will do what ever it takes to keep President Obama from being President one more term

You do not see the GOP refusing to accept the aid America gives to the disasters that have occured in the Southern States. They do prefer to reject aid to the poor, the uninsured, the uneducated et al. And they respond well to the lobbying efforts of the so called American companies that have sent the jobs to other countries. And those so called American companies try to not pay for any share of the cost of the info structure as they use the water; electricity; education; health care; roads, transpiortation; bridges. Those companies will okay local governments paying for the locations they use and being allowed to not play taxes and see nothing unfair as their workers pay the taxes for all that.

Republicans did everything in their power to slow the economy recovery. Their goal was to make President Obama look helpless, by obstructing recovery polices. The GOP are acting like terrorists, by holding our country hostage. There was a time that I believed-in what the Republican party stood-for. I am extremely disappointed in their ability to support a logical recovery process.

I think the GOP's position is far more dangerous for the future of our country. In my view, it renders policy of their inherent lack of empathy.

Mitt Romney For President Campaign Comes As Second Chance For Former Governor

Barack Obama is the most successful president we've had since FDR. He killed Osama Bin Laden, he saved the auto industry, he brought health care to an additional 40 million Americans and he is refusing to let the USA get sucked into wars all over the globe, most notably in Libya. Mitt Romney is just a typical Republican: hate on Obama, despise the poor and the middle class, get tax breaks for millionaires, hate on and reject immigrants, stick his Republican nose into women's bodies and attack Medicare and Social Security. Mitt Romney won't be happy until all public sector workers are homeless and on food stamps. He despises the middle class exactly like all other Republicans. The fact that 50% of Republicans believe the earth is 6,000 years old and that global warming doesn't exist is just icing on the cake. Mitt Romney shares all those views.

House Republicans To Meet With Obama About Debt Ceiling, Budget Cuts

A stupid waste of time by irresponsible Republicans who are clearly out of touch with reality. They seem to be determined to self destruct as a party. Oh well, they're so starved for legitimate policies and candidates, I suppose running around with their hair on fire is their only option at this point.

Bush raised the debt ceiling 7 times.

Not a Republican whimper.

That should tell us all we need to know about Republican motives here.
