Eric Cantor On 'Face The Nation': Disaster Relief For Joplin Tornado Victims Must Be Offset (VIDEO)

House Republicans are planning to hold a symbolic vote on the debt ceiling to demonstrate that Democrats don't have the votes to pass the measure without accepting stringent spending cuts. The vote is part of a larger drama that has played out this year over the federal budget.

We have now entered a new phase with the threats by the GOP that they won't raise the debt limit ceiling if Democrats don't agree to stringent cuts. The willingness to send financial markets into chaos in order to extract concessions on spending is a dangerous game to play and one that doesn't allow for substantive debates over government programs.

Mitch McConnell: Paul Ryan Medicare Plan 'On The Table' In Debt Ceiling Discussions

$20 billion in tax breaks for oil companies, $1 billion in siphoned funds for earmarks, tax breaks for the rich. None of these are on the table, so McConnell has proven what anyone not brainwashed by Fox News knows...the Repubs are a bunch of liars. This reminds me of the Republican bankers who ran the banks into the ground, screaming for deregulation from the government the entire time, then when the stakes were down had their hands out for a bail out. Republicans= SHAMELESS HYPOCRITES!

Republican Presidential Contest Suddenly Heats Up

The handwriting is on the wall for serious GOP candidates. In spite of the billions of dollars their corporate puppeteers have spent to smear Obama at every step of his presidency, his successes are too great to convince voters they have anyone better. Their chances in 2012 are pretty slim. That's why only the true egomaniacs are announcing their candidacies.

The GOP senators will be too busy explaining why they voted to kill Medicare and replace it with a voucher that would not be a decent down payment on a new car. They will explain it by screaming about the " lack" of a Democratic plan: this is their top priority, not running for President. They are too scared to run on their records. They all ready have enough Clowns for the CIRCUS now. The Republican, Tea Party Is becoming a joke.

House Passes Patriot Act Extension, Sends Bill To Obama

It amazes me how most everyday Republicans can be so right about this issue and so wrong about everything else.

They throw fits about personal liberty and personal rights when it comes to the patriot act, but when it comes to drugs, gay marriage, religion and abortion, it's regulate, regulate, regulate!

Patriot Act Extension: Congress Faces Midnight Deadline

The only response I have for this trouble maker, and all of his Tea partners, as well as the entire Republican Party, is stop the "slamming", the "bashing" the lies, the hypocrisy, the hateful rhetoric and start EARNING your pay check. No President has used the War Powers act since the day it was enacted, John McCain thinks it is unconstitutional, and all you idiots are doing is spending your time looking for ways to bring down President Obama. Well, you are bringing down America too with your egotistical attitudes and your total lack of common sense. You don't sound smart, look smart, act smart, you are jealous, greedy, selfish little people who have nothing to contribute to the debate of how to solve America's problems. I am sick of your petty little games, and you "do nothing" because you don't have a tiddley wink's idea of what to do. You, and every other member of the Party of No, should return their checks, there are plenty of people out there that could use the money.

Paul Ryan Budget Proposal Voted Down By Senate [UPDATE]

Republicans have become incompetent at governance because they are so rigidly ideological that they are incapable of responding to the changing facts and new realities of todays world.

They prefer clinging to their extremist and oligarchical fantasies like "trickle down" economics, tax breaks for the ultra rich and powerful corporations and an outdated, unpopular and rigid social agenda rather than deal with the real world that we now live in.

Make no mistake people, todays Republican party is NOT filled with real conservatives and does not espouse real conservative values, it is home to increasingly irrational and radical extremism and the voters ARE beginning to see this.

Republicans will continue to attack those who need protection. They will continue to attack us, because they only obey money and the powerful.

Way to go Democrats!

New York Special Election: Medicare Will Be Issue Of 2012

Hopefully, the GOP will continue to deny their agenda is on shaky ground, keep pushing these attacks on the common man while pouring benefits to the financial royalty. May be an even more historic turn around next Nov. Denial is a beautiful thing.

Dear Republicans, please keep up the good work. Now, all you have to do is nominate Sarah Palin to run against Obama.

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon: U.S. Debt Default Would Be A 'Moral Disaster'

Precisely what the GOP wants... to not raise the debt ceiling, stall the economic recovery, blaming it on Obama and the Democrats and keep unemployment high so big business (and, by that, I mean even McDonalds) has a large labor pool to pull from keeping wages low and campaign contributions at a maximum.

The federal deficit is a visible stat, it signifies "DEBT," which = "BAD," which means it must be the core of the problem. That's an easy line of bogus reasoning to sell to many constituents, and it can be cynically exploited to disrupt the necessary good work that the current administration is trying to get done.

I think the GOP's position is far more dangerous for the future of our country. In my view, it renders policy of their inherent lack of empathy.

2012 Courting Fuels Tension Between GOP Factions

Let's see, we have a member of a cult, a former governor of Minnesota almost run from office, a former governor and a quitter, a nut case woman from Minnesota that belongs in a straight jacket, a three timed married millionaire who's wife has run up hundreds of thousands of dollars in charges at Tiffany's and a nobody that thinks he can run the country. All people who really know what Americans need and want in their government????? Republicans have all become a pack of animals out of touch with reality.!

GOP Donors Deserting Newt Gingrich

Here is a modified version of the Queen song "Another one bites the dust".

Another Republican bites the dust

Another Republican bites the dust

And another Republican gone, and another one gone

Another one bites the dust

Hey, there not gonna get you too

Another Republican bites the dust

“Another Republican Bites The Dust”!

I'm not sure which is more amusing, Newt *threatening* the DNC for using his own words against him (and by extension, the Republican Party), or the GOP now stating that the 230+ GOPers who voted to pass Ryan's Budget shouldn't be held accountable for their vote on April 15, 2011. If there is any doubt on how Bush was allowed to economically rape this country during his 8 year tenure, the current GOPer leadership in both the House and the Senate ought to open more than a few minds on just how pathetically corrupt the GOP has become ... a few short months into their House leadership, the GOP are once again heading us right back to where we were financially in 2007 - without any safety net whatsoever.

Primary Election Poll Paints Grim Picture For Republican Field

Republican philosophy 'my way or the highway' is juvenile...and more importantly NON-PRODUCTIVE.

The idea is that we got into this mess because voters wanted something for nothing, and weak-minded politicians catered to the electorate’s foolishness.

So this seems like a good time to point out that this blame-the-public view isn’t just self-serving, it’s dead wrong.

The fact is that what we’re experiencing right now is a top-down disaster. The policies that got us into this mess weren’t responses to public demand. They were, with few exceptions, policies championed by small groups of influential people — in many cases, the same people now lecturing the rest of us on the need to get serious. ((((THE REPUBLICANS))))

Primary Election Poll Paints Grim Picture For Republican Field

These days Americans get constant lectures about the need to reduce the budget deficit. That focus in itself represents distorted priorities, since our immediate concern should be job creation. But suppose we restrict ourselves to talking about the deficit, and ask: What happened to the budget surplus the federal government had in 2000?

The answer is three main things.

• First, there were the Bush tax cuts, which added roughly $2 trillion to the national debt over the last decade.

• Second, there were the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which added an additional $1.1 trillion or so.

• And third was the Great Recession, which led both to a collapse in revenue and to a sharp rise in spending on unemployment insurance and other safety-net programs.

While the stimulus under Obama DID add to the deficit, it was necessary because of the prior failures; AND it has created 1.4 - 3 million jobs [more than 8-years under Bush].

Primary Election Poll Paints Grim Picture For Republican Field

Republicans won control of the House but not the Senate with the midterms. However, they do not speak for all America.

2010 midterm elections turned out just 41.6% of voters, Republicans gained 45,253,462 votes

...and 42,537,982 voted for OTHER values.

Republican priorities are NOT those of a majority of Americans.

Wisconsin Recall Election Threat Prompts State Republicans To Rush Agenda

What a moronic bunch of miscreants that the GOP has for a line-up. I guess just trying to follow in the worst Republican administra¬tion in the country’s history really has narrowed down the field to the hopeless, the hapless and the homophobic¬. So the Republican¬s do what they do so well. Lie, and run away.

I just can't wrap my head around what republicans are thinking. Kept on this course, their entire political party will all but evaporate in 2012; as their indefensible political position will only highlight their true colors -- along with who they truly serve. The GOP has been predictabl¬e for decades. They sell fear, bigotry, and comforting – yet empty – buzz phrases to their increasing¬ly under-educ¬ated support base.

CEO Pay Now Exceeds Pre-Recession Levels: Equilar

I would like to quote a famous line from a Mel Brooks film, History Of The World Part 1, “Its good to be the King”!

CEOs were rewarded because corporate profits soared in 2010 as the economy gradually got stronger and companies continued to cut costs.

I have no problem with rich people. I do have a problem with policies that favor rich people at the expense of the rest of us.

When you succeed in business and do well for yourself financially you tend to care less how much more others are making.

While the Republicans advocate for more tax cuts for the big corporations, those big corporations are eliminating jobs here in the US and sending them overseas.

How's that for trickle-down economics.

South Carolina Debate: News & Updates From The First GOP Presidential Forum

The GOP has been predictable for decades. They sell fear, bigotry, and comforting – yet empty – buzz phrases to their increasingly under-educated support base. In return, their voters get more and louder us vs. them rhetoric, which is all their base really wanted in the first place – a home team that looks like them. Kent Conrad's Budget Angers Democratic Colleagues

The Republicans have been dealt a serious blow regarding the 2012 presidential elections. A Democratic president has not only saved this country from economic catastrophe; history will now show Obama as the president who felled Bin Laden."

My only concern is that the only political weapon the Republicans have left, is to do everything in their power to prevent the debt ceiling from being raised further, thus economists have warned that defaulting on the national debt could throw the financial markets into turmoil more severely than did the 2008 crisis..

Obama Approval Rating Likely To Rise After Osama Bin Laden Killing

Its kind of sad to see "Some" news agencies running away with yet a new diary of scare tactics to play with. I however think that with the death of Bin Laden, Al Qaeda will fold in on its self. There are numerous Muslims who no longer believe in what Bin Laden use to teach, with Uprisings of Egypt and Syria and Libya. I think these countries want peace, and have aspirations to be free!

On a lighter note regarding politics, the Republicans have been dealt a serious blow regarding the 2012 presidential elections. A Democratic president has not only saved this country from economic catastrophe; history will now show Obama as the president who felled Bin Laden."

My only concern is that the only political weapon the Republicans have left, is to do everything in their power to prevent the debt ceiling from being lifted further, thus causing more economic problems. Let’s hope that our great country in not sacrificed for political gain.
